5.2 to 2005Q4 upgrade questions

We are planning to do an upgrade from 5.2 hf2.09 to the Java Messaging Server 2005Q4. Based on what we have read, our current plan is to do an upgrade, rather than a migration, of the store. We have about 17,000 total users, a total of perhaps 240GB of message store. The iMS server runs on a four-processor E450, which purrs along quite happily at low cpu utilization most all the time.

We have a two-fold question:

First, has anybody done an upgrade and wished they had done a migration? Or vice-versa?

Second, assuming we do the upgrade rather than migration: we are trying to figure how much downtime we should expect when we get to running the actual conversion scripts - particularly the mboxlist database upgrade. It is not clear from the documentation if this part of the upgrade is likely to take ten minutes or ten hours. This is, of course, after doing the appropriate install of the software. Anybody have a wild estimate from experience?

When I did it, I "migrated", using MoveUser.I've not spoken to anybody that's "upgraded" a large system.I would expect the migration scripts to take somthing on the order of an hour, very much like how long reconstruct -m takes.
