importing users

i would like to move some users & groups on an existing jes messaging system to a dev system. the dev system is a little different in that it isn't configured for instant messaging, is x86, etc.

will importing an ldif from the live system also import instant messaging and calendar attributes? would this be a problem if either of those aren't configured on the dev system?

is there a way to just import the user's basic info and group membership?

perhaps some function to generate commadmin scripts to recreate the accounts on the dev system?

i will import imap boxes with imsrestore.

Yes, unless you edit the ldif file yourself, manually, it will include all attributes that are in the ldap server. It should not be a problem for the new system.

You will want to edit the value of "mailhost" for the users, so it reflects the new system.

Likely much more difficult that simply export, modify, import.
