bak2db

Hi jay_plesset and all,

we have messaging 6.2 (2005Q4) running on SPARC solaris 10 which is running very fine. To setup cold standby server, i did setup similar server with solaris 10 and messaging 6.2 (2005Q4).

i did db2bak and imsbackup on production server and uploaded to standby server. But, i am getting errors when running bak2db on standby server as below:

DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - restore: source directory is not a complete backup

If i create users manually, i tried to restore mailbox with imsrestore it is working fine.

Please advise me on running db2bak and bak2db..

TIA

Praveen RK

the Directory backup, "db2bak" and "bak2db" tools are really not what you are looking for. . .

These should be taking a COMPLETE copy of Directory, including all of the o=NetscapeRoot tree, which includes configuration for both Directory and Messaging.

Restoring that to another ldap server will break it so it will no longer start.

ldif export, and import are far better for your use.
