Rewrite To: address to 'Mail' attribute

Having had a homogeneous SUN MMP and Mailstore using the same LDAP we have not had the need to rewrite incoming addresses where there is extensive use of th mailequivalent and mailalternate addresses.

Our environment is changing. Some of the backend mailstores will not query the common LDAP for all legit addresses, but they will hold the single 'Mail' Attribute value.

I suspect this is fairly easy, but what is the method for rewriting all 'valid' mailequivalent or mailalternate addresses to the 'mail' attribute value.

Messages traverse the tcp_intranet channel on there way to the backend mail store.

Assitance would be greatly appreciated.

About all I can offer you is a suggestion. ..

Re-think your backends......

I don't know of any way to rewrite what's to the left of the @ in a mail address. Rewriting what's to the right is indeed easy. Rewriting the name part would involve multiple ldap lookups, and would provide you with some real performance issues, even if it could be done.
