Can't open msg server in console

When I launch the console, I can see the messaging server, but can't open it. The error message is "Can't set uid and gid". What could be the possible cause? Thanks

The messaging server user must exist, have a valid shell, and a valid home directory. You really need to let us know what version Messaging Server and Console you're using in order for us to truly helpyou.

I'm using JES2005Q4. Does the messaging user have to be same with the systerm user and system group ? I'm using the default msg user which is "mailsrv" and under group, "mail".What do u mean by valid home directory and shell?

The mail server user needs to have a fully valid unix account.

that's what I"m saying.

I don't know what you mean by, "same with the system user and system grouop"

There is actually little you can do with the Console in any case. Most configuration is done via editing files or the configutil utility.

What is it you need the Console for?
