No video Signal Sunfire V480

Hello.

We are trying to make run a Sunfire V480 server. The situation is that there is not a video signal.

The video card came apart, it was installed.

When the server is turned on, there is no information in the screen, it looks like when the video cable is unplugged. The green led in the monitor is flashing.

Wich could be the problem?

Thanx in advance :D

You will not get output through a graphics card by simply installing

one to a PCI slot. You need to configure the system to use that card.

A Sunfire V480 isn't a plug-n-pray PeeCee.

The V480's default OBP settings for input-device and for output-device

are NOT for keyboard or for screen, so you must use the TTYa serial console

as your initial connection. Then you can modify those firmware settings.

Next, if you ever hope for any GUI, you must have a directly connected

keyboard and mouse. Else you will only get command line output

to a configured screen.A Sun kit will give you all the special keyboard keys.

If this is a newly delivered V480, the default POST procedure is Diagnostic Mode.

The default input and output console is on TTYa when in DIAG mode. (never to screen)

It's a failsafe device that is available, so long as the computer can be powered.

All of this is described in the system's documentation.
