multiple JRE version

I have an application that required JRE 1.3.1.12 and another one required 1.4.2 or up. I tried to install 1.4.2_06 and 1.4.2_12 with no problem. The application succeed to use JRE 1.3.1_12 but as soon as install a 1.5 version, my application try to use 1.5 and not 1.3.1_12 anymore so the application failed. Any one have an idea?
