Solaris 8 install - slow from CD

Burned the images onto CD and trying to install from CD. I can boot

successfully but then it takes AGES to copy anything from CD (its

currently been running for about 2 hours copying from CD to mini-root

during install).

I've previosuly done an install using Sw disk1 and that took hours to

read the CD.

Any ideas ?

What type of machine are you using? Where/how did you burn the CDs?

'mini-root'? There's no copying during a normal CD boot except during the actual OS installation. Have you started the install at this point?

Maybe on a really slow machine. On an Ultra 5 you should get the Suninstall setup screens within 5 minutes. A full install should be under 2 hours. (Probably closer to an hour, but I haven't done a Solaris 8 install on a U5 in a while).

If it's taking "hours" to read the first disk, something is wrong on either the machine, the drive, or the media.
