CPU install
I have installed a new CPU board in a v480 but the system does not recognize it. Both CPU boards are 900mHz and I have upgraded the firmware to 4.17.1. The system tries to boot but after the only indications I get are a solid maintenance light and a flashing locator light. After waiting for more then 40 minutes the system still does not come up. Any suggestions to fix this problem. Thank you.

Have you tried booting with just one board? Try booting with just the original board and not the new one. If that works, try booting with just the new one.Perhaps it is a bad board, not seated all the way in, etc.-Kevin

Get a console on the 480 (either through the RSC or a dumb terminal, don't use a graphics console) and boot the system in daig mode. Do you see the system run POST. If so, where does it stop? If the system has any problems, POST will normally give you an idea of the problem.
If you get the banner message but do not get to the OBP, you could have a bad CPU 0.
Another thing to check is the memory on the new board. Is it correctly configured. Depending on interleaving, you may have RAM problems on the new board that stops the 480 from booting.
