T2000 Solaris 9 boot cdrom

Hello,

I've looked through the archives, and done a Google search. But I can't seem to find a definitive answer. I'm trying to boot a sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200 by using a cdrom from the 9/05 release of Solaris 9. The application that wil live on this host must have S9. When I try to boot on the install cdrom, as a prelude to actually trying to install the OS, I get:

{0} ok boot cdrom -sw

Boot device: /pci@7c0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@8/cdrom@0,0:f File and args: -sw

Loading ufs-file-system package 1.4 04 Aug 1995 13:02:54.

FCode UFS Reader 1.12 00/07/17 15:48:16.

Redirected to slice: 1

Loading: /platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200/ufsboot

Loading: /platform/sun4u/ufsboot

boot: cannot open kernel/sparcv9/unix

The 9/05 edition of Solaris 9 is the latest that I can find on the Sun website. Is there a later edition? If so, where can I get it? Or, is it categorically, absolutely, impossible to boot a T2000 on Sun OS9?

Thanks.

You're going to be disappointed.

Solaris 10 or newer on those systems.Period.

Glance in the Sun System Handbook.

Go back to the hardware vendor and ask them to sell you a compatible system,

else consult with the application vendor and see if they can

re-write their program for that new generation sun4v hardware the OS that understands it.

Thanks, rukbat !

I am a little disappointed, but I'm also very glad to have a definitive answer. As you politely pointed out I was looking for love in all the wrong places, and had I RTFM'ed I could have saved some heartburn. Thanks for your gentle guidance.

I'm off to see the application vendor.

Thanks, again.
