update manager stuck after clicking "Cancel"

Hi Forum,

upon clicking cancel while installing patch 118668-06 (JSE5.0_x86 ...), update manager shows some progress bar and the stalls. When clicking on cancel download, it gets stuck for at least 10 hours. Currently, it's trying to execute:

bash-3.00# ps -ef | grep update

root84410 21:13:16 ?0:00 /usr/bin/sh /usr/bin/updatemanager

root8498440 21:13:16 ?0:44 /usr/bin/java -client -jar /usr/lib/patch/swupdate.jar

root 29938690 21:19:37 ?0:00 smpatch update -i 118668-06 -C patchpro.internal.statustags=true -C patchpro.in

Can I just kill 2993?

I'm running

bash-3.00# cat /etc/release

Solaris 10 3/05 s10_74L2a X86

Yes try and kill the process and then try applying the patch again after freeing up some disk space since you don't have much disk space left which is what could be causing the problem.

Hi Moderator,

thanks for the quick repy! I tidied up the disk (by basically erasing my home and I managed to download the whole package. However, it fails me now with error message

118668-06

J2SE 5.0_x86: update 7 patch

Failed

Install of update failed. Utility used to install the update is not able to save files. Utility used to install the update failed with exit code 4.

I have left 57 MB left on disk, so I guess it's a no-no for now.

Time to use growfs, probably mess up everything and install from scratch.

Cheers, Peter.
