differences between ICAN 5.0.5 and CAPS 5.1.1

Hi all,

Does anyone have document, or informations on the differences between ICAN 5.0.5 and CAPS 5.1.1.

- Can I migrate easily my project from ICAN to CAPS ?

- What are the risks ?

- What are the advantages to go to CAPS 5.1.1 ?

Best regards

There are many improvements in CAPS 5.1.1, but it is definitely in the same line of development, and you should be able to migrate your 5.0.5 projects without problem.

There are risks in any software migration, so we recommend that you do your migration in a test environment first.

The advantages of CAPS 5.1.1 are many, but too numerous to mention. You can check the Release Notes for the particular product in the suite that you are interested in for a summary of the new features. It's important to recognize that 5.1.1 is a maintenance release -- there were many more features added in 5.1.0, which would be considered a more important release. CAPS 5.1.1 will be released shortly. In the mean time, you could consult the 5.1.0 release notes for the major new features.

Yes You can migrate the 5.0.5 projects into 5.1.1 As said in the above, you first better import into test environment and work accordingly.

Observed no risks / major risks.

Differences are majorly architecture wise. Otherwise the usage is almost same. The major differences are, here in CAPS5.1.1 all the components are independent products like Rep., EM, LH (IS) and where as in 5.0.5 all are dependents on Rep. It is more user friendly to use LH & EM when compare to 5.0.5.

hi *,migration from 505 to 511 causes a lot of work when you do a lot of SAP things.OTD's can sometimes not be migrated and therefor all projects including SAP OTD's might be recreated. other adapters dont show such problems afaik.regards chris
