XVR-2500 dual screen

Hello everybody,

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the graphics card xvr-2500 (in an Ultra 45).

I connected a Sun 19" LCD to each of its DVI connectors and wanted to use one wide virtual screen.

The only option I found was using:

fbconfig -doublewide enable

I did activate the second output. However without the xinerama extension, so GNOME had no chance of recognising the monitor edges. Maximizing windows lead to huge dimensions (2560x1024)... A bit toooo wide for poor old vi :-D

My previous workstation (a sun blade 1500) had an XVR-100 built in, which (with doublewide enabled) emulated 2 cards that could be "reunited" using xinerama and voila! You could actually see 2 framebuffers in the list:

/dev/fbs/pfb0

/dev/fbs/pfb0a

/dev/fbs/pfb0b

The XVR-2500 shows only one device!

Using fbconfig -gui (included with SUNWdcm) didn't provide any helpfull parameters either.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :-)

Have a nice day...

David

I'm not a big fan of "me too" posts but I'm having the same exact problem on the same equipment. I've searched everywhere I can to find an answer without luck. The doco for the card sure makes it sound like the two outputs can drive monitors independently but so far I haven't been able to figure out how. All I can get it to do is exactly what has been described above and that won't work for me as my two monitors have different resolutions.

cheers.
