sunpci2 with solaris 10

Hello everybody!

I have following question please:

I am working on a Sun Blade 100 with Solaris 10. In this blade a SUNpci2 card exists.

So, is it possible to use this card? I tried SUNWspci2 (2.3), but I got some errors. I tried to patch it, but it does not work. Or have I to downgrade on solaris 8?

Could please be anyone so kind, and help me?

Thanks in advance,

Gerald

Did you even thought about searching the internet ?

Entering sunpci +"Solaris 10" as keywords returns several hits.

Hello Michael,

Do you really think I did not already look for a solution at the www?

Why do you think I post in this forum? To get furher information.

Thanks for your links but I already tested it. Without any success.

I still get the message,

...Sorry, SunPCI does not run on Solaris 2.5.1...

What do you think about this?

Thanks

A forum search, using keyword sunpci finds this recent thread: http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=246&threadID=67182

Sorry guys for my ignorance, but I am a newbie in the solaris world. Also thank you for your link, but I really would need a step by step explanation to fix this "shity" bug. I tried to link like

ln -s sunpcidrv.280 sunpcidrv.2100 and

ln -s sunpcidrv.280.64 sunpcidrv.2100.64 at

/opt/SUNWspci2/drivers/solaris

but after a ./sunpcload and a /bin/sunpci i still got this error.

I really don't know what i make wrong.

All you're going to get is suggestions for, and pointers to, work-arounds.

The SunPCi2 card is not a supported peripheral under Solaris 10(SPARC).

It's not supposed to work, though the modifications shown by Michael seem to succeed.

If you have the time to experiment...

Install Solaris 9 and then install the coprocessor board and its software.

(Solaris downloads are here)

Observe whatever you need to do to get it working.

Then go back to these work-arounds and edit whatever you need to do for Solaris 10.

While searching for quotable sources, I had found a weblog entry by someone who explained he got the SunPCi 2 working by installing Solaris 9, then the SunPCi 2 package (SUNWspci2)/hardware and finally he upgraded to Solaris 10.

Regarding your error message: I have reviewed the sunpcload and sunpci scripts. None of these scripts contains this message.
