Clock on Ultra 2 Enterprise

The clock on my Ultra 2 does not keep accurate time - sometime no time at all - when powered down.What module do I need to replace? Where can I get one? ...relatively inexpensively...What happens to my host ID when I replace said module?Thx

warrenweiss;

You need a new nvram. Host ID is associated with the nvram so that will change when you install a new one. You could call sun and see if the have and nvrams for sale. 525-1417 is the part# on my ultra 2 nvram. If you open your system the part# should be on the nvram. Also If Sun does not have any available you could check ebay to see if there are any Ultra2 system boards for sale, they should come with the nvram and this would give you an extra system board if anything happens to yours, should be very cheep. Also if you have licenses say like Veritas they are assigned to your hostid so this could cause problems. Sun does have the ability to assign the old host id to it but it may cost more. Also check the web for changing hostid sun nvram you may just find how you can change it. I have in the past.

Thanks
