very large shmmax

All,

Oracle is recommending we raise shmmax to a VERY large value on our solaris 8 machines - physical is 26gig and they are recommending half of that - 13 gig. Any possible negatives to this - I have never gone above 4 gig - any other params that would need to be changes as well?
