SUNMC 3.5.1 agent installation on E2900. Showing up as a Blue Folder

Hi People.

Hoping someone may help me out. I have read the other posts regarding similar icons appearing as a Blue Folder, but would like some advise.

I have installed SUNMC 3.5.1 agent on a couple E2900. The installation included the following installation components. Below is the output from the install log file:

As can be seen the SUN FIRE Midrange has been selected

=====================================

Advanced System Monitoring : YES

Service Availability Manager : YES

Performance Reporting Manager : YES

N1 Grid Console - Container Manager : NO

Sun Fire Midrange Systems Platform Administration : YES

Starfire Monitoring : NO

Sun Fire 15K/12K Monitoring : NO

Sun Fire Link : YES

This product has the following optional components:

Sun Fire Link Manager

Select for install : YES

Selecting component: Sun Fire Link Manager

Sun Fire Link Switch

Sun Fire Link Cluster Node

Sun Enterprise 6500-3500 Servers/sun4d Config Reader : NO

Now, reading the other posts. I followed the suggestions by the Halcyon people which included the following.

1) find the ENTITY FAMILY for these e2900. -> sun4u-Sun-Fire-E2900

2) from the management server locate a similar family and make a copy.

Well I found no family files with Sun-Fire, so I linked these e2900 with the following "sun4u-Sun-Enterprise-E3500-family-j.x".

This worked fine, my icons appear as E3500's.

My modules also appear, with the exception of the Config Reader, why would this be ?

When looking within

/opt/SUNWsymon/classes/base/console/cfg

I also see the following cfg files present.

sun-fire-E6900-device.cfg

sun-fire-6800-device.cfg

sun-fire-E4900-device.cfg

sun-fire-4810-device.cfg

sun-fire-4800-device.cfg

sun-fire-3800-device.cfg

sun-fire-platform-details.cfg

Can someone please advise what I need to do in order to get the correct E2900 items.

Do I need to download an update to SUNMC. If so which one ?

Yes.

It's exceedingly difficult to find. Follow these instructions carefully!

1) Go to the SunMC downloads page (http://www.sun.com/software/products/sunmanagementcenter/get.xml)

2) Search for "E2900". Behold! :

Ok, it's late and I'm being smart... time for me to go to bed :)

You should back out your blue-folder hack before applying this supplement, just to make sure you don't interfere with the proper files.

Hope it all works out for you: E2900's are nice machines!
