cannot run es-setup or es-guisetup

I just installed SunMC 3.5.1u1b on solaris 10. When I ran the es-guisetup after the install and supplied all the info it started but then said that nothing was setup and refered me to a log. The error in the log is:

verifyCreateOracleUser - the homedir parm is null, returning failure code

execution of verifyCreateOracleUser failed.

I tried to run es-setup but it doesn't start at all. It gives the same error and says that it could not finish requested tasks.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I followed through the setup to find out exactly where it fails by putting echos all over the script. It fails when trying to execute:relink_sunmc_databaseDoes anybody have any idea what could be the problem?

I think I know what you meant to say... but just to be clear...

Yes, SunMC 3.5.1b does support Solaris 10 (support was added in 3.5.1a).

As for the original post, if this is the first time you installed SunMC on that system, have you rebooted it yet? The first run of es-setup will have modified /etc/system shared memory setting for the SunMC Oracle database... and you have to reboot and re-run es-setup for those changes to take effect.

I'm not sure what the condition of your database is at this point: I'd run "es-uninst -X" to wipe thigs clean, re-install again, and make sure you reboot when prompted by es-setup.

Also ssergeyev has has a point: if possible I'd install SunMC 3.6.1 as it's support for Solaris 10 features is much better than what shipped in 3.5.1b.
