firewall range & scsi reset ?

To whom may it concern,

Hello,

I have some questions to ask.

Question 1)

Now, Sun MC 3.6 version is installed in Solaris 9 and the port range for the firewall between console and server is set up.

The login from console to server is working fine but when I start PRM GUI, there shows an alert message saying 揜eport Service ins not available ?br>

The works we have done are as follows.

Port range: We used es-config command to modify the port and

edited the files in our side.

SunMC Server :

* /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/javaserver.properties

sunmc:server.console.firewall.Minport=2000

sunmc:server.console.firewall.Maxport=2020

* /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/javaconsole.properties

sunmc:server.console.firewall.Minport=2000

sunmc:server.console.firewall.Maxport=2020

SunMC Console:

* c:/program files/SUNWsymon/console/

javaconsole.properties

sunmc.server.console.firewall.Enable=true

sunmc.server.console.firewall.MinPort=2000

sunmc.server.console.firewall.MaxPort=2020

Our company hopes to communicate with the minimum port as possible.

I wonder there is something wrong in the set up method above and I would appreciate if you tell me another way we can use.

Question 2)

SunMC 3.5u1 is installed in Blade150 and the same version installed in agent on SF6800.

SF6800 domain use Veritas Netbackup and the tape drive connected to SAN Switch,

Domain cause SCSI reset ?

As far as I know, this happens only to High-end equipment. I wonder there is any possibility that this happens to midrange equipment.

After the engineers analyze these problems, they conclude these are probably caused by SunMC Agent daemon. Please check and consider this matter and reply me as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely

nokdong

Did things work properly before you changed the firewall settings? If you can't get around a firewall between your Console and Server for testing, try launching the Console on the Server itself (if it has a video card), or run it over X. That will show you if the error is firewall/port related or not.

Have you seen the 3.6 release notes and the entry about the "Report Service is not available" message? : http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-7962/6mn8crnkj?a=view

SunMC Agents check attached SCSI devices as part their hardware monitoring modules ("Config Reader"-type modules). Does the SCSI reset stop happening if your the Agent is turned off? (/opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-stop -a)

Config Reader modules are magic :) - if you need a quick response please open a ticket with Sun and they'll be glad to help you out.
