Performance Report Manager not collecting data

I'm running SMC 3.6 with the Performance report manger module installed on the server and hosts. The hosts are logging data to their circular file. But when I open the Report Manager then Data-Data Collection there are no hosts listed in the "Hosts with Data Collection Enabled" or "Hosts with Data Collection Disabled" fields.

PRM is sensitive to host naming issues. If your SunMC Agent resolves it's IP backwards to "hostA.mydomain.com" and your SunMC Server resolves that same IP backwards to "hostA" (or if the situation is reversed) then you'll have problems.

If you do find a mismatch (but SunMC is otherwise running fine - indicating the security is still valid) simply try deleting the icon for a host and recreating it with the proper name. I.E. erase the icon you made for "hostA" and replace it with an icon for "hostA.mydomain.com". It will look and feel the same in the Console, but PRM will treat it differently.

Note that PRM only collects data from the Agent every hour, so it may take that long for your changes to show any effect.

Mike.

I did all that and reboot the server, and nothing - Data Collection window (in PRM addon) is empty. I also change hostname from hostA to hostA.mydomain.com, reboot server, and still nothing. I don't know if Agent is collecting anything since I don't see anything in D.C. window. I know that this was a bug in previous versions of SunMC (3.5), but they were indicating it was solved (something inside the table of oracle database - one Leaf table value is 100 instead 1, but I have no clue how to change this).

Zoran.

Hi Mike,

I am having the exact same problem. The server is in a test envrionment at the moment so DNS is not working. I have however updated both machines hosts tables to reflect the correct naming used in PRM. Everything else works 100%. Could it be an SNMP port problem. I am not running on default 161, but on 1161 instead.

All the data is being collected in the circular files. and I can produce graphs in the main console, but not through PRM.

Hi, All!!!

I am having the exact same problem!!! I have server SF280R with Solaris 10 and SMC 3.6.1 Build: 12 installed on it. DNS is working fine. SNMP agent is using 161 port. I spent two days trying setup software in accordance to documentation but still have no luck. Any findings on it?

it turned out that we should use non-gui setup utility to configure module. I've setup it with following command:bash-3.00# /opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-setup -p PRMand it works fine now
