Question about managed jobs. Loading module Hardware Diagnostic Suite

Hi Every.

I have another question regarding managed jobs.

Im looking for an efficient way to load the "Hardware Diagnostic Suite" on around 100+ UNIX servers.

I have loaded other modules successfully. However the Hardware Dignostic Suite does not appear as an available module to load in the managed jobs >>> New task >>> Module Name.

Does anyone know whether it can be loaded this way, or does it have to be manually done. If I check the servers manually under there module manager tab, this module is present in the list but not loaded.

Thank you.

Unfortunately there is no real way to control this specific SunMC addon at the grouping level. The Hardware Diag Suite (HWDS) is more of an applet that sits on top of the SunMC framework instead of running within the module framework. To use it, the HWDS agent needs to discover the equipment on your box when you click on the applet in the java console. So that process must take place per host via the gui as you schedule the tests that best fits the box.

The second part of the HWDS addon is the SunMC module part which then watches the HWDS logs once the above configuration has taken place. That module could be used in managed jobs. You would just need to cp the HWDS module files from the /opt/SUNWsymon/modules/cfg directory to the /opt/SUNWsymon/mdr directory and restart the metadata process on the SunMC server layer (es-stop -m/es-start -m).

Thanks,

Mike
