SunMC 3.6.1 Agent Install Error Message

In attempting to install the SunMC 3.6.1 agent on a Solaris 10 x86 host (full install) i get the following error message when I execute "es-inst"

"Error copying XML APIs to /var/run/tmp/SunMCInstall/XML/APIs"

Additionally, the following error is seen in the install logs:

XML_INITIALIZATION_ERROR

Any ideas?

Are you using SunMC 3.6 or SunMC 3.6.1? As far as I know SunMC 3.6.1 has not been released to the public yet. Thanks,Mike

Hi,

Are you trying to install it on Solaris10 update2? As far as I know it doesn't support Solaris10 Update2.

This error usually comes when SunMC doesn't support the underlying OS.

I also got this error when iam trying to install SunMC on Solaris10 Neveda build.

Please also cross check with the release note for the supported platform and OS for more clarification

Hi Pierre,

Ya, thats true, by seeing to the /etc/release output it is confirmed that you are using s10 Update2.

As at this time sunMC doesn't support s10 update2 OS you will not be able to install it on the same and that's why getting the above error message.

You've got me a bit worried: do you mean 3.6.1 + Solaris 10 update 2 doesn't work at all, or is buggy, or just "not supported" (in that Sun won't help you if you have problems with it)? Is it something you read on sun.com?

I'm running 3.6.1 on Sol10u2 SPARC and x86 systems right now... so if I'm going to run into problems I'd be grateful if you could tell me more about the problems.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just to clarify my situation in regards to what have been said.

I'm running Solaris 10 6/06 with update 2 as seen by output from my system, an old lady that listens to the name 'Enterprise 450'. I just downloaded the 3.6.1 SMC from Sun the other day. I was trying to install it on the very same machine.

I googled around a little and stumbled upon this thread and thought that this may be the same problem. Haven't looked any deeper into this since it is my test system and i felt OK with the answer given.

Anyway, seems a little odd from SUN's part not supporting this on their own system.

What HW are you running and in which config?

Regards,

Pierre

Hi Pierre,Would it be possible for you to execute sh -xv of es-inst so that we could attempt to know exactly why the install script is giving this error? Thanks,Abhijeet

Hi Aronek , Pierre

It was just a typo, I mean to say SunMC3.6.So please read the following line

as :-

>I also got this error when iam trying to install SunMC on Solaris10 Neveda build.

"I also got this error when iam trying to install SunMC3.6 on Solaris10 Neveda build."

> As at this time sunMC doesn't support s10 update2

"As at this time sunMC3.6 doesn't support s10 update2"

SunMc3.6.1 is very well supported in s10 update2.

Hi Guys,I don't know about you but i sort of gave it a rest since i did not really need this SW on my system. How ever, if anyone out there figures out a way to install this on a E450 i would appreciate the info.Regards,Pierre
