SunMC emailing Storade Events
Greetings,
Storade 2.4 is happily displaying events in SunMC 3.5.1 and in an attempt to try something, I attempted to use the email.sh in Actions to alert me of "Action of any change". When I use email.sh for other actions, it works ok. Problem is that Storade events completely mess up email.sh. I get part of the Storade event and for some unknown reason, email.sh picks words out of the event and emails them. I have seen emails to on@somecom, of@somecom, somet3@somecom, etc as well as my email address internally. I have heard that Storade events also mess up the Tivoli integration with the tecad not understanding the event "string".
Has anyone seen this and found a way of fixing this including the tecad problem?
Thanks
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Sounds like some sort of characters not being escaped properly in the string handling. What do the raw events look like?
There is an alternative solution from Halcyon, a Sun partner, that provides a global mechanism on the server for sending out email alerts (rather than configuring each severity of each attribute of each host) and requiring each host to have email connectivity. This is Halcyon's PrimeAlert EventAction.

There is also an add-on to EventAction specifically for Tivoli that in addition to integration into TEC, allows acknowledgement of events back into SunMC from the TEC console.

I am sure patching email.sh to handle the Storade events is simplest. If you would like to discuss the Halcyon products further, just contact me directly.
