High Availability

I have SMC running on two servers at two seperate sites - Each server monitors objects physically at its own site. Is there any way of introducing failover in the event of losing one of the SMC servers? (without cluster software) or can a server monitor the status of a remote server? If there is a recommended approach to this I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

Cheers

The only high-availability option for SunMC right now is built by Halcyon:

http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/HighAvailability/index.php

It will do failovers between Servers without shared storage or clustering software, exactly as you describe. Note: I work for the company that builds it.

I have running SunMC as a Veritas Cluster service group.

The Cluster stuff is not necessary if you have your own scripts.

The only thing you have to have is shared storage for the failover.

If you have your SMC-Servers on different locations, the

halcyon solution should be the right one.
