Trouble changing IP address of SunMC 3.5 server

Dear all,

I had an SunMC server+client on one machine running fine for weeks to experiment. Last week we changed IP address range in the data center and I followed the procedure to change the setup of SunMC to cope with the address change. First I ran "es-setup -F" to rerun the setup of SunMC and next I reseeded the Server using the info at http://docs.sun.com/source/806-5942/apx_prod.html#996729. Next I could log on to the SunMC console. But the icon for my server showed the machine was down - which was not the case obviously. Double-clicking on the machine icon came up with the familiar page with the tabs Info, Module Browser, Alarms, etc but that page stayed blank for about 3 minutes and next said it cannot load the Console Information data. Using the right button of the mouse and click the menu item "Modify Object" I see the machine still has the old IP address listed. Aha ! Trying to change it, I got the message "Insufficient security privilege to modify node". I am logged on as a user that should have all privileges needed ... . How can I check what privileges I have ? I remember to have done this for SunMC 3.0 this way and that worked fine. Any idea how to get the IP address changed ?

Thanks for the help.

Marc.

Hi Marc,

Ability to edit domain/topology information (i.e. icons) comes from being in the "esdomadm" group in /etc/group on your SunMC Server. If you aren't in that group then you can add yourself and try logging into the Console again and see if you are given priviledge.
