Am I running a RAID?

Hi !

I'm fighting a hard battle over here, trying to master a SUN Enterprice 450.

Currently running SonOS 5.7 (solaris 7).

Shortly I took over the resposibility for this machine. I found 10 disks (scsi, all of the same kind).

But the system seems to just work with a few of them, but I not sure and that is my problem. I'm afraid the other are set up in some sort of a transparent RAID system but what do I know?

Keep en mind to tell me what the heck this means: DPT-RAID-10-SM02. I thought the format should give me the name of the disk?

When I run format I get the following output, that confuses me a little:

root@complicatred:/# format

Searching for disks...done

AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:

0. c0t0d0 <SUN18G cyl 7506 alt 2 hd 19 sec 248>

/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/sd@0,0

1. c0t1d0 <SUN18G cyl 7506 alt 2 hd 19 sec 248>

/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/sd@1,0

2. c3t0d0 <DPT-RAID-10-SM02 cyl 34547 alt 2 hd 16 sec 128>

/pci@6,4000/pci@4/scsis@4/mscsi@1,0/sd@0,0

3. c3t2d0 <DPT-RAID-10-SM02 cyl 34547 alt 2 hd 16 sec 128>

/pci@6,4000/pci@4/scsis@4/mscsi@1,0/sd@2,0

Does this mean that only four of my ten disks are used or does DPT-RAID-10-SMO2 mean

that a RAID system some how is running in the background.

I would very much like to add the file /reconfigure and do a reeboot to see if more devices are

added to /dev/devices, but I'm afraid this could cause som problems.

c0t1d0 is not mounted but is used as a backup device, but where are all the other disks

that I know are in my computer?

Please give me a hint.

Greetings form cold Norway!

What about df -lk command ?.... you know if it (machine) work with RAID or VOLUME MANAGER applications ?...
