SunPCI II software

Hi,

can anyone tell me a source to download - if possible - the necessary drivers/tools to get that card running on a Blade 100 system under Solaris 10 ? somehow I've managed to misplace my original disks. Can I use the SunPCI III software or will it not recognize my hardware ?

The SunPCi II doesn't support Solaris 10 "out-of-the-box.".

This is a link to one of a lot of solution pages.

No, you must use the matching package (SunPCi II/IIpro - SUNWSpci2, SunPCi III/IIIpro - SUNWSpci3). While the normal and the pro version are the same boards except for the cpu (speed), the SunPCi II and SunPCi III are different (Celeron or Mobile AMD Athlon XP) boards.

Btw. is there a reason why most people have "reduced" the information in their profile compared to the former supportforum.sun.com ?

Michael,

I use these forums from time to time, but I spend a lot of time in the field at customer sites so there may be long periods of time that go by before I have a chance to log back in. I have talked with yourself and others in the past. I had not logged-in in a long time and when I did Sun had changed their loggin methods and format. I had to set up a new profile and all of the past replies that I had made in the forums had been cleared out. When I signed up for my new account it seemed the format has changed. I will eventually fill in more info in my profile, I just wanted to get set back up again as quick as I could.

Hello Bruce,

Yes, I remember your postings. The Sun Hardware Support Forums have been merged into the Developer Forums. Only the threads with activity (=most recent reply) between September 2005 and March 30th, 2006 have been migrated. The Developer Forums use a different software (Jive). Notification works, editing you own posts was re-enabled, nice features like "what people are doing" or "last time logged in" are missing. I miss the very active moderation, the "last time logged in" information and the blacklist (allowed me to save a lot of time).

We had a discussion about using a non-Sun 20GB IDE hard disk in an Ultra 5 with Solaris 2.6 ...

I will eventually fill in more info in my profile

It's up to you. I think the location and the first name are sufficient. In the past I had compiled a spread sheet with the information from (some of) the profiles. Sometimes I matched the postings with those from newsgroups. When olamm1976 registered (with his full name) for the Sun Hardware Support Forum, he did include his location (Manchester, UK).
