IBM DS4300 over Sun A5200

Hi there,

I have a Veritas cluster running Oracle 9i, hardware is currently 2xV880's and 2xA5200 storage devices. I am about to be tasked with migrating the storage to an IBM DS4300 device.

Any tips or guidance about setup at all, and would you think id get a big speed boost. Currently volume manager is always my top CPU hog, so at least that should disappear, what sort of increase in IO should i expect.

thanks all

My first recommendation is to Update the Firmware in the IBM DS4300. We had several of them and it present a big problem if they do not have the latest firmware. Update the Sun SAN Drivers to 4.4.10. Zone the storage to a single Storage port. If you do not do this you will have problems. Last but not least configure MPxIO before configuring the new file systems.
