I want to connect Sun fire 4800 server with EMC clarion cx400 SAN. For this I want to configure HBA card. The output of prtdiag is

Vendor says that JNI card availabe on MY server is not compatible with SAN. I am not able to locate the qlogic cards as mentioned in the output of prtdiag. Pls suggest how to proceed.

I am novice for SAN.

Regards

Amit

The qlogic "cards" in your system are SCSI interfaces and not FC.

The device name in the output notes a hme interface and a scsi port, isptwo, on the same board. I'd guess you have a http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/Devices/SCSI/SCSI_SunSwift_PCI.html

Also i am seeing that on board P0 and on slot 0, there are eight entries. And when i see the card physically, there are only two ports. Some more light on this pls.

I guess that's a protected page. Try going to the main sunsolve.sun.com page, accepting the agreement, and then try that link. However, if I'm right you have a PCI card with a fast ethernet interface and a SCSI interface. You would need to get Sun FC HBAs.

Try this link at a 3rd party web site:

SunSwift combo PCI card at SunShack.Org site

There's an old, archived, copy of the SSH over there.

The information is from circa 2002 or 2003, and is therefore not current.

However there's enough to get general information.
