profile at mozilla startup
Mozilla on Solaris10
When I startup the browser it always complains that the default profile cannot be found, I have to delete it and re-create it. Why? How to stop that msg from appearing?
secondly if I check the box "do not check when starting mozilla" it has no effect, I am still prompted with the message "default profile cannot be found"
thank you

Mozilla very often destroys it's own profiles, configuration files, bookmarks, and address books.
So, a good idea is to archive the profile folder once in a while.
Mozilla profiles are stored under this folder:
$HOME/.mozilla
Dig deeper. When you find bookmarks.htm, you know that's the folder which you may want to archive complete. You may not bother to archive th subfolders. Howeer, in rare cases, some mail folder also get emptied without warning. E.g. when you use automatic compressing of folders, and receive mail at the same time.
It is useful to check the "prefs.js" file for any path name.
Maybe something points to a folder which is not mounted or doesn't exist.
It is hard for me to guess.
The next time you create a profile go and check that folder to see if it is there before you exit Mozilla, and after. Then report back.
