Installation Issues

OK. So I downloaded and tried to follow the supplied installations instructions. As might be expected, the instructions didn't match the product!!

It appears to have installed; but I can't find out where.

The downloaded file (for my Solaris X86) is called "m1_2_sunpkgs_i386_S5.8.zip" however the "readme" instructions suggest it should be called "MOZinstaller_i386.zip".

They then say "Run the Mozilla 1.2.1 install script: %./installer" but the script seems to be called "mozinstall".

I never got asked about performing a custom install so couldn't do the next step. I didn't seem to be offered a directory to install (and the install didn't create a mozilla directory in my home directory either as suggested by this file).

According to the web instructions, the software should be in "/usr/sfw/lib/mozilla" but that directory doesn't exist either.

Anyone got any hints? Have I downloaded the wrong thing? How did your install go?

I'm asking because I'm just about to try it on a sparc station next -- and don't want to waste my time.

If you could read the README file carefully, you will find there are two types installation: one is webstart , another is pkgadd.

For webstart install, the downloaded file for Solaris X86 is called "m1_2_sunpkgs_i386_S5.8.zip".

For pkgadd install, the downloaded file for Solaris X86 is called "MOZinstaller_i386.zip:.

The two installation are described in the README file. And pkgadd install need root permission.
