Solaris Run Level

Hi Gurus ,Could you please tell me difference between init S and init 1.Thank you,Rajesh Kannan R.

Not a lot it seems.In Solaris 10 the manpage for "init" even says that an "init 1" is corresponding to "init S"..One difference is that you can only reach level 1 from another run level, whereas you can boot to single user directly.. 7/M.

If you switch from multiuser mode to init s and switch it back to multiuser mode.then remote useres automatically reconnects to the system.where as in the case of init 1. they have to reconnect manully means they have to relogin
