Obviously it's a permission problem. I can't be more specific without seeing your system. However I would like to recommend that you install firefox instead. Netscape is and always has been a very poor browser for solaris.-p

Re your firefox problem: you need to install LibM. I'm sure you can download this from http://www.sunfreeware.comRe your netscape problem: I'd look for the permissions problem in your Java installation. I don't know where this would be though :D Sorry.

Re: firefox,

did you downloaded the correct release of firefox? You need to get the one for SunOS 5.8, the one for 5.10 won't work under Solaris 10, try and download the

11 MB big tarball from:

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/contrib/solaris_ tar_ball/firefox-1.5.0.2.en-US.solaris2.8-sparc-gtk1.tar.bz2

Re: netscape.

type:

about:plugins

in netscape, and see if you can see any plugin for Java, if you can't you'll have to make sure there is a link called libjavaplugin.so in the netscape's "plugins" directory. The link should point to /usr/j2se/jre/plugin/sparc/ns4/libjavaplugin.so
