White Screen

Hi I am trying Solaris for the first time and cant get it to install from a dvd . Every time I choose the deault option (1) at the prompt and after some dvd activity the screen goes white (and stays like that) . I am using a SATA HDD do i need load any drivers for this as with XP or could it be something else .please help.
