I need an honest opinion

I had recently gotten a laptop(Gateway nx200s) and one of the first things that i had done was installed linux(suse 10) on it and for the most part i'm happy with its performance, i have no complaints except for the usual linux complaints (certain components not working), but i'm used to that.

for the past couple of weeks i have been working more with Java and had gained an interest in Solaris 10 and working more with Sun technoligies.. so much to the point that i ordered Solaris 10 (I could never seem to get the downloadable DVD images to work right no matter which system i used to concatinate and burn the files).

now heres my question which i need an honest opinion about.. what do you think about the operating system and what should i expect when cracking it open and throwing it my x86 laptop... also how would you compare it to linux and would it be wise to switch to Solaris (ditching linux completely) or just use Solaris as somthing to poke around with?

i know thats alot to answer for and i thank you all in advance for your input..

I put it on a r42?3? IBM laptop with a 1.2 ghz celery in it. 512 mb ram. Ran very nicely, no issues with any hardware. However! A laptop is rather useless these days without a wireless ethernet card. The one I had would not work. I am not sure if there are any good wireless cards for solaris, so I would check around for that first. Otherwise, my experience was a good one.
