T2000 performance
I have tested "try-buy" T2000 and I'm dispointed on the performance , I compared it with a dual cpu v240 as they are in about the same price range.
I did the follwing tests:
WebSphere Appserver v6 runing cloudscape and PlantsByWebSPhere app and Apache web server and WebSphere Plugin exactly the same setup on v240 as t2000 and the through put was 20% better on the v240 when simulating 100 concurrent users accessing the web app.
According to Sun the T2000 should be very well suited to be a web/application server with many running threads... what's the story.?

There are known issues with WebSphere and earlier versions of Solaris, but this is no longer the case with Solaris 9 and 10 ( 10 is the only OS supported on the T2000 ). There are also thread library options for configuring WebSphere on Solaris, this can affect performance. I've also read about issues with JVM but I don't have time to research the issue. This issue should be brought to your local solution center that has a team that are experienced with this application. Here is an interesting blog from a fellow Irishman, it seems that HEAnet were very impressed with T2000 performace, but no references to java applications.
