illegal instruction after completing set_demoString()

when i do something like this

snmpwalk <ipadder> public enterprises.42.1000

it core dumps (illegal instruction) after completing set_demoString()

moreover i find the "pass" argument is -ve.

the same thing happens if I call

snmpget <ipadder> public enterprises.42.1000.1.0

Basically I have not added or deleted any code.?
