Update connector analyze problem
Update connector appears to freeze during the analyze process and therefroe updates are not downloaded or installed. The system appears in the list of registered systems when using the web browser function. The 122231-01 patch is installed and we are not using zones. I ran /var/tmp/cc-transport/CCTQueueStore/queues/REGISTRATION/registration and got the following message

there has been message logged,
CNS Transport[451]: [ID 617356 daemon.error] Could not send message from queue: /var/tmp/cc-transport/CCTQueueStore/store/queues/REGISTRATION/registration
There also appears to be an error in the information about the system in the web browser file ( at sun) where the ip address is listed as 10.0.0.1 rather than the systems ip address - but i don't see how this could effect the analyze function

# 9
no improvement and same symptoms with these patches installed .....FYI I did do a restart after applying patches
# 10
Can you apply the J2SE Solaris 10_x86 Recommended Patch Cluster (available to download from Sunsolve) and verify if you still have the same problem after applying this?
# 11
Assume that you mean J2SE_sol10 (for ultra rather than x86 ) NB sunblade 150.

I have seen this before with other installs however they have usually installed ok despite this
# 12
Yes I did mean the sparc bundle and not the x86 one.The pkginfo errors are strange and are perhaps indicative of a deeper OS issue than a SunUC one. Is this a full Sol10 install or is it a custom build?
# 13
It was a standard install, because of this problem I have been downloading and installing clusters, I suppose something may have been missed along the way.
Is there away to run the checking/analyzing module in verbose mode from the command line to see where it is hanging, I assume that it is trying to compare my system with a sun database to see what packages need down loading.
Also I downloaded but haven't run the sun install checking package - is there any point doing this to help debug this problem? Everything else runs fine so I didn't see the point previous to this discussion
# 14
Can you please send an email with the output of the following commands to rsc-forum-inbound@Sun.COM (they'll probably be too big to go on the forum and some of it we need to keep private anyway. We'll continue to aid you troubleshooting this via email) -
# smpatch get
# smpatch list -@
Please set the subject line of the email to the following so that we can pickup the issue with the history in tact -
[Case ID: 11105547] Index out of bound errors
# 15
It seems that the pkginfo file has been corrupted - at this stage I have raised a support case through Sun
# 16
OK, this just worked for me. I'm using Solaris 10 01/06. I don't seem to have this problem on any servers running the original Solaris 10 release.
remove all patches that start with 121118 so you're only using the smpatch that came with Solaris 10
smpatch update
init 6
Once the server comes back up, smpatch analyze will probably fail again.
patchrm 121118-06
smpatch analyze
You'll probably find about 5-6 packages that still need to be installed
smpatch update
init 6
Once the server is rebooted, smpatch analyze. For me, everything worked fine.
I just did this successfully on 4 T2000's running Solaris 10 01/06
Good luck.

# 17
Thanks for the reply however I dont seem to have any 121118 series of patches installed.
# 18
Are you on x86? If so, the patch is 121119
marcva at 2007-7-21 15:08:34 >

# 19
No its a blade 150 -
java version "1.5.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_01-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_01-b08, mixed mode, sharing)
SunOS titan 5.10 Generic_118822-11 sun4u sparc SUNW.
What is in the patch that seemed to help?
# 20
I don't know what specific patch helped out my problem however from the output of what you sent, you're using the original Solaris 10 release, not Solaris 10 01/06 (Update 1).
I don't know the answer to your problem, however, if it were me, what I'd do is download the Solaris 10 jumbo patch from sunsolve, install that and then see if that fixes smpatch. If not, uninstall the patch that I previously mentioned and see if smpatch works again.
I haven't tried this approach with this version of Solaris 10 so it's just a guess on my part.
Good luck.

You should upgrade Java to version 1.5.0_09 or later and apply the following patches manually:
120335-04
121081-06
121118-10
121453-02
121563-02
122231-01
123005-05
124463-02
124614-01
One or two of the above patches might not be required depending on the release of Solaris 10 you have installed.
Does `patchadd -p` show different output from `showrev -p`?
Have you registered the system yet? Does the output of `smpatch get` return values that correspond to your current environment?
