SunSolve is a web site where you download patches along with accessing other information, it is not an update server for use with Update Connection or Patch Manager or PatchPro.

You can get patches--and a lot of other good stuff--at http://sunsolve.sun.com/You will need to sign up, but no service contract is required for patches and other public stuff.

My assumption was that if someone posted that "patch download via sunsolve is available" on the "Sun Update Connection & Patch Manager 2.0 & PatchPro 2.2 " forum that it meant we could use one of Suns approved patch management tools to download from sunsolve, instead of from getupdates.sun.com. This is in light of the previous posts stating lousy performance from getupdates.sun.com and reported better performance from sunsolve.

For Solaris 10 user, Sun Update Manager you can get all security patches without signing up. The service contract is to download all other patches. I believe the same policy is in effect at sunsolve (Solaris 10).
