Sun patching system sucks like hell - 5.9 patches on Solaris 10?

Here's a list of patches that smpatch says are available for my system:

120465-01 SunOS 5.9_x86: bios utility patch

114194-09 SunOS 5.9_x86: patchadd and patchrm Patch

114483-04 SunOS 5.9_x86: Product Registry CLI Revision

121436-01 SunOS 5.9_x86: Live Upgrade Patch (if using S10 LU on S9 system)

120901-03 SunOS 5.10_x86: libzonecfg patch

121334-02 SunOS 5.10_x86: zoneadmd, zlogin and zoneadm patch

119255-19 SunOS 5.10_x86: Install and Patch Utilities Patch

119558-04 SunOS 5.10_x86: tavor Patch

118344-07 SunOS 5.10_x86: Fault Manager Patch

120759-04 Sun Studio 11_x86: Sun Compiler Common patch for x86 backend

My system is: SunOS barlog 5.10 Generic_Patch_118844-30 i86pc i386 i86pc

Hi,

We are aware that Solaris 9 patches are being offered for Solaris 10.

The culpri is 121436-01 SunOS 5.9_x86: Live Upgrade Patch (if using S10 LU on S9 system.

It is listed as a Solaris 10 patch but it is for Soalris 9.

The problem will be resolved today.

i have installed a new x86 system today and there always swup is offering al lot of patches from Solaris 9;114568-20;117172-17;114194-09;120465-01;114483-04;121436-01;whats wrong?wbrHans

I see these patches which conflict and never install on the Solaris 10 setup:

112951

113713

114482

121435

Normally, I select them all and let it rip.When it doesn't work, I go to the location under "/var/sadm/prod/spool" to remove ".jar" files that match it. Then I look at the forum bulletin board to see if others have complaints. The 5.9 scenario is confusing.

the problem seems to be solved; we haveSunOS 5.10 Generic_118833-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V210and no more updates from SUN OS 5.9 appear in the list; thanks to the sun-developers!regardsanil
