Update connection and Solaris 10 release 1/06

Hello,

I am newbie in Solaris administration.

I installed Solaris 10 x86 release Jan 2006 (sol-10-u1-ga-x86-v*-iso.zip) and I can see and run Sun Update Manager.

Do I need to install updateConnection-i386.zip also or it's the same as Update Manager included in Jan 2006 release?

Thanks in advance.

You do not need to install the package from the website if you already have it installed as part of the Solaris build. Any updates to the package would be downloaded as patches using the tools themselves.

Thank you for your reply.Does updateConnection-i386.zip have more features then Update Manager I see just after Solaris 10 installation?I plan to update Solaris machine from local logon only. Will Update Manager be enough for that? Thanks for your support.

updateConnection-i386.zip has the same feartures as the Solaris 10 Jan bundle, and yes Update Manager will be enough for your purposes
