x86 patches on Sparc-64

The system that I'm describing is a V280R therefore SUN Sparc 64-bit platform, running Solaris 10.

For some reason my update manager downloaded and tries to install patches that are relevant for x86 platforms only.

Reason why I see two updates on my "available updates" list :

120824-02

120844-01

of which i cannot get rid of.

The contents of my /var/sadm/spool/disallowed_patch_list_report is :

STATUS INSTALL BEGIN 120844-01

Transition old-style patching.

STATUS INSTALL END 120844-01 INSTALL.8

STATUS INSTALL BEGIN 120824-02

Transition old-style patching.

STATUS INSTALL END 120824-02 INSTALL.8

Why did the sun Update Manager download these in the first place ? And how can i get rid of them ?

Thank you in advance,

Richard

These patches are for the sun4v platform, this is a known issue and it is being worked on. In the meantime unfortunately the patches will keep showing in the portal as available updates, please don't download them as they are not for your machine as you noticed.

The patches should have been downloaded to the /var/sadm/spool directory. You can remove them from there if required.

I've removed the two patches (the two jar files) from /var/sadm/spool and after starting up Update Manager i still see them on the list.

Is there another place i need to remove them ?

I guess it might be something in the /var/sadm/spool/cache directory. I need your guidance on thisone.

Thank you in advance,

Richard

As was mentioned above this is a known issue and currently being worked on. Until it is resolved these patches will show in update manager as being "available" for you to download and install.
