update manager keeps wanting to install uninstallable patches

Update manage shows patches

120844-01 SunOS 5.10: platform/sun4v/kernel/drv/sparcv9/glvc patch

120824-02 SunOS 5.10: usr/platform/SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200/lib/libprtdiag_psr.so.1 Patch

to install.

But they can't be installed because our boxes are missing the appropriate packages for architecture SUN4v.

So patch installation fails.

But they still show up in the list of patches to install.

Am I going to be stuck with those patches in the list for the rest of time. I thought update manager was supposed to only show patches applicable to the packages on your box.

Where do we get the appropriate packages for that architecture anyway. I beleive we have solaris 10 03/05. Is there a newer version?

I've asked the development team for clarification of how patches which have failed to install are displayed in Update Manager and hope to have feedback for you shortly.

Further to my last post -

There is an issue with the 2 patches you have listed which the dev team are currently looking into.

With regards to the notification of failed patch installs - There is work ongoing to ensure that failures are logged in future although it's currently unclear as to whether that info will be shown/available in the update manager gui. In short, it's a known issue and the logging/reporting of failures is being worked on.
