Oops. Deleted patch manager control files ... can it be fixed?

Or do I have to reinstall?

Frustrated by Update Manager silently filling up /var (next time the l'il beggar /var gets FOUR GIGABYTES I tell ya) I deleted some archives maintained by patchadd etc. and of course patchadd doesn't work anymore.

Can I get patchadd to work again, or is it time to reinstall Solaris 10?

If you can still install patches installing patch 119107-03/06 or better using the installer at http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=42e02045 should be sufficient.

Nah, can't install a patch. No way to reset things to "forgiveness" mode? :-)

Besides, it's the thrice-darned Update Manager that got me in trouble with its blessed habit of filling up /var silently and failing on patches without a meaningful diagnostic. Along with Solaris's wonderful habit of encouraging the installing user to make /var too small. 4 gig next time, I tell ya!
