Is https://updateserver.sun.com/solaris/ down

The "Is" missed my last post...

This probably isn't the place to post this, but I'm not sure where else to ask. Running smpatch or even pprosvc -l on a Solaris 8 system and it just sits.

Once in a while it comes back with an HTTP 500 error on the https://updateserver.sun.com/solaris/ URL. Maybe 2 out of 5 times.

If you go to http://www.sun.com/contact/ you can find phone numbers and eventually get to a human being who can tell you about outages and such. (I don't know about updateserver.sun.com personally).Good luck.

Is this still a problem?

It popped up last week some time.

Also, I called 1-800-USA-4SUN and tried to open a live case under our contract. The person that took my information (after not being able to find my ESID) didn't show anywhere to route calls for "updates" or "patches" to other than the OS people.

FYI...

So now I have to explain to my boss and his boss what's going on and try to justify all the money we spend every year on Sun software support. And believe me, it's not the $99 subscription.

OS and its divisions would be the correct team for patching issues on Solaris 9 or older. Patching issues on Solaris 10 should be routed to the Sun Update Connection team.
