Update Manager Solaris 10 fills up /var

Here's a suggestion: Update Manager should maybe check to see if there is enough room in /var before filling it up instead of just filling up /var and crashing! Sign me "sadder but wiser and now manually checking /var before running Update Manager", which is otherwise a nice tool.

I have been trying to reproduce your error in our lab, but Update Manager didn't crash. Could you please run Update Manager in debug mode and send us the output to the address prodreg-help@sun.com?

Use the following command:

# updatemanager -debug 2>&1 >updatemanagerDebug.out

Please include the thread ID number 26587 on the subject and this

url at the end of the e-mail body:

Thanks.

Well, this is a production machine and I really don't want to fill up /var again!

New OS (Solaris 10) and what is essentially a 1.0 product (update manager) on a production machine?I wouldn't trust ANY OS vendor that much.

Depends on what you're producing! I'm producing software.
