UM registration error

Okay.. so I downloaded UM 1.0 and installed it on my Sparc at home to test out. I either get errors that the sunsolve account is not valid or that it "Failed to collect required system information" after clicking the finish button. Any ideas? I know the account information is correct.

I am seeing same symptoms - looking at the log it fails authentication at https://cns-services.sun.com/UserInformationService/UserInformationService

I can enter this URL in my browser and I get a page showing a one-row table, so I can access the site.

Anyone have any more info on what it is looking for?

cheers

Can you run Update Manager GUI in debug mode and send us the output from the point when you try to register, as this might show better what is going on.# /usr/bin/updatemanager -debugAlso post the output of "smpatch get".

Can you confirm you can login to the Sun Update Connection web application http://updates.sun.com using your unixconsole account? Also, could you try running updatemanager directly as root rather than via sudo with your user.
ForumModerator at 2007-7-6 13:28:48 > top of Java-index,Administration Tools,Sun Update Connection-System...
# 6
Yes, I'm able to access that website and sunsolve with my unixconsole account.

I get the same result if I login as root and run the updatemanager.

Can you email the most recent /tmp/basicreg*.log file to prodreg-help@sun.com . This log file will help us determine exactly why the client system is not being allowed to register. -m

The only difference with running it as root is that I only seem the get thiserror message:"Failed to collect required system information"

Done:)

I got some help from Sun on this. Make sure that you don't have any unusual network configurations, like IPMP. I ended up unconfiguring my network settings down to one basic network interface and was able to register and run the updatemanager:)

I'd also like to add that this bug was fixed in the "1.0.1" version of UpdateManager. Located @ http://www.sun.com/download/products.xml?id=42e02045
