Can't delete jobs from Sun Update portal
I am unable to delete jobs from the Sun Update Connection portal. Here are the steps I take:
o Click on Jobs page. I have 186 pending jobs.
o I select a few of them and click on "View Jobs"
o I select the jobs and click on "Cancel Selected Jobs"
o I click on Yes when asked for confirmation.
After that I get the message below saying jobs were NOT cancelled:
"The following jobs were NOT cancelled."
Any ideas why I can't cancel any jobs?

What are the current statuses of the 183 Jobs?
The rules for deleting a job using the SWUP portal require a job status of 'PENDING' when the job status advances to IN-PROGRESS or completes, the status becomes FAILED or SUCCEEDED, the user can no longer cancel the job.
There is a timing issue surrounding this functionality. The SWUP portal displays the current status when the page is requested. After retrieving the statuses for the jobs, the SWUP Server receives and process a message advancing the job status from PENDING to IN-PROGRESS. However the page displays PENDING. The user can not delete jobs with the status of IN_PROGRESS. When the page is refreshed, the correct job status is display.

The status of the all the jobs is PENDING, but still I can't delete them.

Just to be clarify things:
Do you see two lists?
Following jobs have been cancelled

Following jobs were NOT cancelled
(nothing siaplyed here)
If you see this then it might just be a GUI display issue where the "not cancelled " message shows up even if there is nothing to display under it. (this has been fixed in the next release)
Bottomline: The jobs have been cancelled successfully and there is nothing to show under the NOT cancelled list.

What is/are the hostid of the system(s) that have the uncancel able tasks?
# 5
I have removed some of the systems for now due to other reasons, but here are the hostids of the two systems that I still have registered with my account and they are both showing the problem: 830642b4 & 830647fc.Thanks.

I have requested a DB query to the product system with your host ID. The output indicates that during the time the query is executed, you have total 109 subtaks associated with this host ID. In which, 100 are on going tasks and 9 are pending tasks. The pending tasks are made through 3 distinct request ID.
Could you let us know that are all these 9 pending tasks are not cancelable or only some of the tasks? If just some of the tasks can't be canceled, could you let us know the patch ID's associated with these jobs?
Thanks.

We are doing investigation on this issue. We will post what we find and notify you when we can a fix on this. Thanks for your patient.Wenzhou

We have scaned the production log and found that you have made 5 attempts to cancel some jobs with one same request id associated with this host on Oct. 13. Our application somehow never got a return status on these requests. These requests were time out'ed on Oct 16. The time out message is also somehow not delivered to our application from one of the subcomponents, that is why these jobs status are still shown as pending rather than failed.
We still don't have a logic explanation why some of the notification messages not delivered to our application why majority them do and can be processed correctly. We will create a bug and continue work on it. As for the hang jobs associated with your system, we are working on a query script and will update our database to remove them. After that, you will not see those jobs in your pending list any more.
Thanks.

HI,
This is still an issue and I would appreciate any help i could get. I don't want to reinstall the server including six zones.
Anyway, this is what i have done.
1. I removed the server from updateconnection
2. Waited 24 hours
3. Installed all patches using the script provided in another thread (http://forum.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=275&threadID=27716) This seem to be the only way to patch a system with zones
4. Logged in to updateconnection to verify that no servers were registered
5. Registered again using update manager
Now updatemanager shows 22 available updates but when i log in to updateconnection it shows 0.
This problem has been bugging me for quite a long time now and I would aprreciate if Sun could make an official statement about patching systems with zones. Is it supported or not?
In my particular case what would you recommend me to do?
Thanks

Sunupdate connection does not support zones.
# 14
Wow, May I suggest that you publish that information on the Sun Update portal? /R

Our last post should be clarified:
The latest version of Sun UC partially supports zones. From the FAQ,
"Sun Update Connection only provides partial support for systems that have non-global zones installed.
* Supports the sconadm, smpatch analyze, and smpatch download commands, and the Sun Update Manager registration and analysis features in the global zone only.
The Sun Update Connection web application, the Sun Update Manager application, and the smpatch analyze command can be used to perform an update analysis of the global zone.
* Does not support the smpatch update, smpatch add, and smpatch remove commands, or the install and remove features of the Sun Update Manager application or the Sun Update Connection web application.
Note that you can use the patchadd and patchrm commands to install and remove updates from global zones as well as from non-global zones. The patchadd and patchrm commands fully support Solaris 10 systems that have zones installed."
Additionally we are working on full support for zones for a later release.
