Sun Subscription Key already in use

I am getting an error when trying to register a new machine to the update connection. The error is "Sun Subscription Key already in use". When I go to the Sun website to try to manage my machines remotely, there are no machines listed.

Without telling me the exact key you are using, can you tell me how you obtained the key?I'll see if there are any non-obvious reasons you could get this response.

I am just using my existing Spectrum Contract number that I have had for several years.

Ok, could you run /usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -g cns.assetid and report the results. This will just give me the id of the asset to look up, it will not provide me your Contract ID.TIAethan

If you can remove all Solaris 10 assets, I can re-add them.

Please send an email with your specific error messages and the contract IDs you are using to sun-connection-token-support@sun.comthey should be able to help track this down.

Hi,

Can you confirm if you were able to register your host.

If not you may want to try.

Hi,

You may wish to try the following procedure where you get the

'subscription key already in use' message:

Assumptions:

o Sun Update Connection 1.0 System Addition is properly installed

o The customer has a valid Contract ID

o The customer has a valid Subscription Key

o The customer has a UNIX background and has root user permissions

Steps:

On system:

(1) Launch a terminal session and log in as root

(2) Run following command and note the assetid number returned

/usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -g cns.assetid

(3) Run these exact ccr commands as root, where <ASSETID> = the number

returned in above step:

/usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -p cns.assetid -v <ASSETID>

and then

/usr/lib/cc-ccr/bin/ccr -p cns.transport.serverurl -v

(4) Exit the terminal session

(5) Launch Update Manager.

(6) Select the File Menu

(7) Select Manage Subscription

(8) In the registration wizard, there are 3 fields: Username/ Password

/Subscription key (all 3 fields are required)

(8.1) Enter the Username /Password /Sub key

The system should now be registered.

I've had the same problem, and got it solved in this way.

I can register an extra system using this procedure.

I would however like a way to register a host using

shell commands. We have a coule of 100 workstations

that we would like register, and be able to update with

smpatch update

I guess we will setup a local host to host the updates, but

right now we just are trying to get automatic updates to work,

and be able to se status of the systems with the update

web interface.
