Entitlement Permissions?

I was trying to patch my fourth server using update connection and on one of the patches, I got an error saying insufficient entitilement permissions (or something to that effect). On the first 3 servers, I had a total of 111 patches listed when I ran smpatch analyze. On this fourth system only 36 patches was returned when I ran that command. All the servers are using the same hardware and Sol 10 GA version.

The first 3 was done last Friday (Jul 22 05) and the fourth one I was trying to patch it on Monday (Jul 25 05). Anyone has any ideas why the patches returned changed? Thanks.

During last weekend Update Connection officially went live. Now you must be registered to download the full-range of patches. Please ensure that you have a valid registration code.

How do I get a valid registration code. Numerous places say that you can get at least security patches for free. I've got my usernames and systems registers, but still can't update.Where do I get the registration code?

There is no 'registration code'. There is a subscription key that you can enter IF you want to receive more than security updates but it is not required for registration. To get a subscription key, you must have a valid Solaris Service Plan. The subscription key is the Contract ID for that plan. If you want to purchase a plan, see http://www.sun.com/service/solaris10/

Meanwhile, you must register every system individually through Update Manager and reset the proxies if you want to use smpatch. There is a known issue with this which we are working on now and should have more information to post soon so please check back on the forum.
